The book is the sixth revised edition of the well-known textbook "Numerical methods" by the same authors which was first published in 1987. In this edition the authors have added chapters on subjects covering the solution of systems of linear equations with ill-conditioned matrixes, solution of Cauchy problem for systems of rigid ordinary differential equations, approximation of functions and connected gradients method. The statement about optimum linear iterative process is modified and the multi-grid iterative method(which at present is one of the most commonly used methods for solving grid boundary problems) is considered.

The authors are the Lomonosov Moscow State University professors.

The book is intended for undergraduate and graduate students.
